Very interesting statistics in the Daily Mail today with regards to les femmes and le footwear. Apparently....

10% of women have spent more than £1000 on shoes in the past 12 months (really? only £1000?),
25% of women are more likely to buy shoes than pay their bills (thats what men are for)
50% own more than 30 pairs of shoes (putting me in the 8% who own more than 100).

However, far more interesting were the 79% of women who have had sex wearing only their heels and the 55% whose boyfriends have had to carry them because their feet hurt?! So you can break his back and then get him on his back!

I fell in love with Stella McCartney's black satin high heel sandal on first sight, as I did with most things 'chain' related. Although I purchased numerous bracelets that were chunky chained and fabulous, as well as a dress with gold chain straps (very 1995), the trend managed to escape my shoe wardrobe. However, imagine my delight on seeing these sandals in the sale for £12! I'd had my eye on them for ages and lo and behold, I go away for 2 weeks and not only do they come into stock but they are reduced by a tenner! (available in black, white and fuschia)

I'm back! Sorry for slacking lately...I got back from holiday last week and it's taken me a week to get myself sorted out again! First off, ASOS's glitter court shoe appears to take significant inspirtation from Miu Miu's silver glitter mary jane. I think I'm actually preferring ASOS's version as the high-street is awash with the Mary Jane style and I'm a bit sick of it already!

Apologies for the total lack of posts recently but I've been busy trying to get together a summer wardrobe for my holiday. The shops are absolutely full of designer lookalike shoes. I seem to spend my whole time wandering round saying...oh my god they're exactly like Louboutin/Gina/Marc Jacobs...insert as appropriate! One of my favourite spottings were these Miu-Miu like sandals from Oasis called 'Sindy' available for £55. Mooching around on ASOS a few days later, however, I came across their glitter trimmed sandal, priced at £35. If you could somehow merge the two, with Oasis' jewelled detail and ASOS's black trim, you'd have a perfect pair of Miu-Miu sandals for a fraction of the price!

Apparently, fashionistas are fast turning into consumer eco-warriors with a social conscience. We want to know that we made the world a better place when we splurge on our shopping sprees, safe in the knowledge that we haven't damaged the environment in the process. With World Environment Day just around the corner, (5th June), I went in search of some ethical footwear so that those of you who are environment enthusiasts can strut your stuff while being eco-friendly and fashionable.

Terra Plana's Taj sandal in pastel blue is a cute little shoe made from vegetable tanned nubucks and soft nappas. More to my taste, is their 'Orchid' sandal which looks almost Missoni-esque. The company 'aims to be the most innovative and ecological friendly designer shoe brand in the world' and 'to make and design products with a ‘total beauty’.' The current director is Galahad Clark, of the Clark's shoe dynasty so we can expect some fashion-conscious offerings from this company. Cate Blanchett and KT Tunstall are both said to be fans. Equally fashion and environment conscious is Beyond Skin who made the green peep toe pumps pictured above. Beyond Skin describes itself as 'an exclusive ethical footwear label producing beautiful, stylish hand-made shoes' who make hand-made footwear 'in a manner that is non-exploitative to humans, animals and wherever possible the wider environment.' With Natalie Portman donning a bespoke pair to the Golden Globes and Phoebe Philo, Sadie Frost and Chrissie Hynde singing their praises, perhaps it's time to jump on the eco-friendly bandwagon!

Matching shoes and handbags aren't usually my kind of thing but, trawling the web this morning, I came across some delightful duos that made me re-consider. Although I can be obsessive when it comes to co-ordination at times, the thought of matching accessories just seemed too prissy for my liking. However, I've found three matching shoes and handbags that compliment each other perfectly without looking too OTT:

The only problem with these slick sets is the huge price tag! Fendi's B bag and shoe will set you back an eye-watering $2600. Jimmy Choo's snakeskin hobo costs a cool $2100. Good job the matching snakeskin pump is on sale at $415.90 then! Alexander McQueen's chain pump (featured previously as 'most coveted') and 'Novak' bag seem like a bargain at $1615 by contrast!

On the left is Marc Jacobs ankle strap wedge shoes, available from Net a Porter for £200. On the right is ASOS's version, priced at a mere £18. The colour might be slightly different but other than that, the only real difference I can see between the two is a £182 saving! Also worth checking out is Primark's version of this sandal..I popped in there on Friday and they had racks of Marc Jacobs-esque shoes, the majority of which were under a tenner! Hooray for the high-street!

Well converse to the title of this post, it's all about flatties. Or thong sandals to be more precise. However, I just loved the quote so I had to put it up anyway. The thong sandal is a hot new trend for spring that is the perfect in-between shoe..not too casual or too smart, not a flip-flop and yet not a proper sandal and also not too high but not totally flat. I love Dior's metallic thong with tortoiseshell heel. It also has a cute little 'D' charm hanging off on the ankle strap. Ok so it is Dior, it is gold and it does involve tortoiseshell and a charm but I think it still manages to look reasonably subtle...for Dior anyway. Equally adorable, and also rather kitsch, is Miss Trish of Capri's anchor thong with heart detail and an anchor charm. These are a cute take on the nautical theme and would look great with a crisp pair of white city shorts. Last but not least is Prada's wood trick thong with wooden embellishment. These are proving to be very popular at Saks, where all the shoes can be purchased from, so if you want to get your hands on a pair, get in there quick!

Ok so this is a new little feature that I've decided to introduce to the blog. In addition to looking for high-street imitations of celeb-favoured shoes, I'll also be putting up whole outfits. The first outfit is inspired by none other than Nicole Richie. Get a similar look with Chloé tweed style city shorts, white vest from ASOS , diamante bow pointed flats, also from ASOS and for a nice finishing touch, accessorise with their chunky chain and heart pendant necklace.

Find the animal in you and take a walk on the wild side in bold animal prints this summer. It's impossible to miss how popular animal print is at the moment in the shops: skin is in. Go all out in ASOS court shoe (in the style of Gwen Stefani) or Manolo Blahnik's Hair-Calf d'Orsay ($585). If leopard isn't your thing, try Gucci's High-Heel pump in Ayers Snakeskin with a gorgeous pearl satin finish. If you want to try this trend but don't want to go too bestial, Christian Louboutin's Patent Leather wedge with leopard print inset offers a more subtle approach, as does Jimmy Choo Leopard-Print Sandals.

I have to admit that I've never really been into the whole 'vintage' thing. The closet I've ever really got to it is the basement section in Topshop at Oxford Circus and a one-off trip to Rokit. Instead, I prefer to raid through my mum's wardrobe. However, I thought it was time for some fab vintage finds.

I'm loving the 70s gold t-bar sandal from Martha's Closet. With their dance-inspired style, these could easily be from the current Miu Miu collection, as could the 60s silver slingbacks from the same website. From Vintage Designer Clothing is YSL's red-pointed leather slingbacks with a cute bow detail. At 1860-1960, you can find a pair of 'De Lux' silver metallic evening shoes from the 1930s, apparently in excellent condition. However, if you don't really like the idea of wearing someone else's shoes, Pin-up Girl Clothing offer a variety of vintage style shoes. Their satin open-toe pumps are suitably retro looking while still offering you the satisfaction of knowing that no sweaty feet have graced their soles!

Ahh this shoe is pretty isn't it? Introducing the 'Larry' from Faith, yours for 45 pounds. The actual shape of the shoe is reminiscent of Louboutin while the crystal bow harks back to the Chloe bow sandal from last year that I fell in love with. In fact, I still love those shoes now so I think that these babies might be worthy of some of my student loan....

With an impending holiday just around the corner and my thoughts constantly turning to my summer wardrobe, I thought I would go in search of some sexy sandals. These gorgeous strappy numbers would look great with a loose kaftan for daytime glamour (Nikki Beach awaits) while their dazzling colour and blinging embellishment makes them more than suitable for evening chic.

At the high end of the market, Jimmy Choo's Roy Muslin Tie Sandals (also available in black) are 220 pounds from Net-a-Porter. Somewhat less expensive is Clark's Sheena sandal, available at 34.99 pounds. Word of warning: these shoes are seriously difficult to get hold of! Last but not least is Faith's Danny sandal in bright orange at 45 pounds.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've been in the middle of my final year exams at uni so it's been rather hectic! However, I did manage to stumble across these tassel front leather court shoes from ASOS. They're £35 and are available in sizes 3-8. When I first posted about this trend last week, I was definitely not too sure but I'm a convert already...these shoes would look great with a pair of city shorts for a slick, sophisticated summer style.

Tassels are going to big news this autumn, with Louboutin, Bottega Veneta and Burberry Prorsum featuring them heavily in their collections. While most of us are only just beginning to think about wearing flip-flops again, the designers are focusing on what's hot for autumn/winter '06. I'm really not sure about this trend as they scream 'golf shoes' to me but come fall, I'm sure we'll all be wondering how we ever lived without our tasselled toed shoes.

Bottega Veneta's brown calfskin 'Kiltie' pump is the most expensive of the tasselled trio at $690. Christian Louboutin's 'Steva' stacked pump is slightly more affordable at £410 while my favourite of them all and which I am already starting to imagine myself wearing are Burberry Prorsum's 'Bunhill' patent sandals at £345. Word of warning: they're all already describing these as the editor's favourite on Net a Porter so for those fashion-forward folk, I recommend you get in quick!

I once spent about a whole week trying to organise my shoes by putting them all into boxes with a description on the front so that I could easily locate them at quick glance. Of course, once it came to getting ready, I would pull all of them out of their boxes and then have to put them all away again with a sore head in the morning. Now, however, you can pack them away in these see-through storage boxes so you never need panic again. With the nautical trend set to be around all summer, and with an increasing number of clothes with stripes finding their way into my wardrobe, I might as well embrace the trend and so I set off in search of some suitably nautical footwear to compliment my wardrobe. From the highstreet is the dolly interbow shoe from Office at £54.99. This shoe has proved so popular that it seems to be constantly sold out but apparently, new deliveries are coming in all the time for those of you who fancy getting your mitts on a pair. From the designer end of things is Gina's Memphis at £325. I think I'm having a little bit of a love affair with Gina at the moment but with shoes as cute as these, who can blame me?

Apologies for the delay in posting but I'm in the middle of exams. However, I still managed to buy 2 new pairs of shoes whilst studying..both from New Look and both less than 20pounds! They've got some amazing shoes in at the moment and I would definitely recommend taking a look. Both pairs are seriously high but I've been on the lookout for some new flats. As I'm writing this, I'm wearing 6pound pewter Primark ballet flats but in another life, these would be the shoes I'd be wearing...

First and foremost is Gina's Cairo. These sparkly little numbers are a whopping 650 pounds. However, despite the hefty price tag, I am absolutely in love with these shoes. Although I only really wear flats during the daytime, these deserve to be worn with something equally glamorous and expensive. More casual is Chloe's ballet slipper at an equally extortionate $490. This is the classic ballet shoe in sleek, dusty pink satin but I can't help thinking that I've probably got something that looks very similar to these in the back of my wardrobe from when I was about 5 years old! However, I know that I definitely don't own anything so gorgeous as Miu Miu's blinging ballet pump ($395). I actually saw a girl walking down Tottenham Court Rd with these on last week and they stand out a mile. Nevertheless, in terms of luxury, it doesn't get much better than Manolo's Jewelled Napa Ballerina Slipper, priced at $630, just behind the Gina's. Time to get saving....

Time for another fab five. Mary Jane peep toes are big news for Spring, with many designers featuring them heavily in their collections. I'm totally loving this trend and with all these different styles on offer, it's difficult to choose between them!

Topshop's black strappy version with white binding detail are a reasonable 95 pounds (my pound key isnt working!) and are a good way to ease yourself into the trend. Meanwhile, Manolo Blahnik's zebra paint MJ's style are a totally sexy update of the school shoe favourite with an unfortunately hefty price tag of $645. For full on glamour, go with Topshop's glitter peep-toes (similar to the Marc Jacobs ones from last weeks post), again 95 pounds. If your liking the metallic trend thats hot again this year, Moschino's Mary Janes are cute and funky and $485. My favaourites, however, are the pink patent leather Prada's...maybe I should put my student loan to good use!

Gladiator-style sandals have been popping up on the likes of Kate Moss, Sienna Miller et al for a while now but surfing the net today, I realised how popular this look is this season. I'm still not sure of this trend but with so many variations on the theme available, I'm sure it won't be long before I go Roman!

Get your hands on the high-leg gladiator style sandals at ASOS a la Kate Moss. At the higher end of the market are Alexander McQueens chocolate brown leather flat, open-toe style sandals and Miu Miu's tan leather jewelled thongs. Last but not least, are Topshop's faux snake lace up style sandals. The ones I would most likely wear are the Miu Miu thongs as they allude to the Gladiator trend without looking as though they should be worn in the Colosseum! However, for those more trend conscious and fashion forward, any of the lace-up styles would look great teamed with a floaty summer number!

If you have a spare $48, these red rhinestone flip-flops are great for avoiding post-pedicure smudges with their sliding strap. Once your feet have dried, you can fold them in half and put them back in the accompanying pouch. Ok, so you could live without them but if you're feeling frivolous, they're a cute present for a friend or a nice little luxury for yourself!

Today is the 26th anniversary of the 26 mile London marathon so I thought I'd try to find some stylish sneakers in celebration, although the closest you'll get to running in these trainers is running up your credit card bill! First up are Tod's gold and white wave lace-ups. The metallic leather adds a touch of glamour to these elegant casual flats. The black Laser PM NY Running Shoes by Alexander McQueen for Puma could actually be worn to pound the pavements or the treadmill and combine practicality with style rather well. My favourites, however, are the pony skin and leopard print Emma Hope sneakers. They also come in snakeskin, ocelot, bambi and lynx skin! Who knew trainers could be this..trendy?!

I've only recently discovered how cute Lulu Guiness shoes are. I don't think I've ever actually seen them anywhere, other than online. Luckily, Viva La Diva are selling these delectable Dido wedge espadrilles. They're wedges, they have a bow, they're red, they're peep toe and they also give a nod to the nautical trend. With so many of this season' s trend encapsulated in one shoe, how can you say no?!

Accessorize have come up with some great flats this season. I popped into their Islington branch this afternoon and tried on both of the styles below but although I'm usually a size 7/40, both pairs were miles too big. The gold glitter ballerina shoes remind me of the Marc Jacob ones that I posted about the other day while the buckle down ballerina shoes have obviously taken their inspiration from the Chloe Paddington flats.

The Fendi B bag is one of the most sought after designs for Spring. The inspiration behind the design is quite obviously the belt buckle (b for buckle perhaps?) ASOS have come up with this stylish offering that looks rather similar to the B Belt. On the catwalk, Fendi sent models down the runway with it hung midway down white, flowing skirts or positioned slightly higher up on their silk column dresses.

Today is feel-good Thursday and just for the heck of it, I'm going to post up some beautiful shoes. On a dull, grey Thursday, these blinging beauties add a much-needed bit of sparkle! So here's the Thursday Five:

In fourth place are the Prada peeps and last but not least, YSL's Dada Metallic Platform Pumps. I particularly like the Marc Jacobs dancing shoes and the Prada peeps but I'd settle for Lulu, Miu Miu, or YSL any day of the week!

The only walking I'll be doing in this bejewelled bargains is from my sunbed to the bar and back again! My bargain shoe of the week are these sandals from Peacocks. At only £15 and with an additional 10% discount for students, these will suit even the tightest of pockets! I'm going to be saving mine for my hols..think I'd better swap that Rouge Noir in for a nice french pedi before then though! x

I would still love to buy these lil beauties! Available at Neiman Marcus by Moschino Cheap and Chic, they might not be cheap, but they are certainly chic! I think they are definitely g oing straight to the top of my wish list!
It might be a little OTT but I'd wear them with this Marc by Marc Jacobs spotty dress and a slick of red nail varnish on the old tootsies! Simply divine!

I got these gina shoes for my birthday in the sale for £99. Not bad, I thought at the time. But a few months down the line and I still haven't worn the little buggers. What would you wear them with?

The Chloé wedges do strike me as being one minute wonders. However, seeing as most ordinary folk can't get hold of a pair for neither love, nor money (these babies will set you back a $670 smackeroonies!) ASOS have come up with a very similar style available in black, white and tan and priced at a much more affordable £25.

If you've got a wedge of cash on your hands, (£390 quid to be precise!) then Gucci's high-heeled platforms are one of the hottest shoes around at the moment for wannabe fashionistas. However, if you've got more of a wafer than a wedge in your pocket, check out Dorothy Perkins's version, available in blue or chocolate for a mere £25. I'll take the blue AND the chocolate please!
